According to the New York Times, during the tumultuous transition between the Clinton administration and the Bush administration, the White House was vandalized to the tune of $14,000. Worse, thefts of White House belongings were reported – these included the famous presidential seal from the Eisenhower Building. Much of the graffiti was derogatory towards the Bush family.
