18.) Rep. Pete McCloskey

Pete McCloskey was a former Republican Member of Congress who served in the House from 1967 to 1983. 

Running on an anti-war platform, he unsuccessfully primaried incumbent President Richard Nixon in 1972. 

After 59 years as a Republican, McCloskey switched his party affiliation to Democrat in April 2007.
