A new report from the FBI revealed the fastest growing racial hate crimes in the United States: crimes committed against white people.
The FBI report on 2016 Hate Crime Statistics shows that, in 2016, there were 876 anti-white hate crime offenses reported in the United States. That’s a 20 percent increase from 2015.
However, hate crimes seem to be rising precipitously across the board – as the American people continue to divide themselves along racial and religious lines.
Hate crimes targeting Latinos increased by 18.5 percent from 2015 to 2016. However, hate crimes targeting African-Americans declined very slightly.
Hate crimes against members of particular religions have also risen across the board: anti-Semitic hate crimes increased by 20 percent, anti-Islamic hate crimes increased by 26.5 percent, and anti-Catholic hate crimes ticked up ever so slightly as well.
