House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi ditched her tax cut protest yesterday – after hardly anyone showed up.
The protest, held in a conference room on Capitol Hill, was supposed to feature hundreds of people. Only a couple dozen bothered to come.
MSNBC did manage to make an appearance – and instead got footage of the sad, unenthusiastic crowd that was waiting for the dejected House Minority Leader who would ultimately never show.
MSNBC reporter Garret Haake explained the paltry turnout by stating that “these protests have never been like what we saw with the healthcare law” back in 2009 and 2010 when nationwide “Tea Party” protests stunned Democrats.
“This particular protest was supposed to start at 3 pm,” Haake said, about ten minutes after the “rally” was supposed to begin. “Supposed to feature Nancy Pelosi and supposed to have hundreds of people, and none of those things are going to end up being true.”
The nearly-empty room underscored what Haake said was a “foregone conclusion” that the tax reform bill would pass shortly.
Just hours later, both houses of Congress did, in fact, pass the bill. President Trump is expected to subsequently sign the bill into law.
