Devin Langford, 13, escaped uninjured. After hiding the surviving children in the nearby brush, he walked 14 miles to La Mora, where the families lived.
Despite being shot in the arm, a nine-year-old, Mckenzie Langford went to find help after Devin’s prolonged absence.
Mckenzie herself wandered for hours before search parties rescued her.
