Stolen Designer Clothes Recovered

  • Law enforcement officials recovered women’s designer clothing from the residence of Sam Brinton, a biological male who considers himself to be non-binary, and a former official in the Biden administration, during a search in May.
  • The clothes belonged to Tanzanian fashion designer Asya Khamsin, who had reported them missing in 2018 at Ronald Reagan National Airport.
  • The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department (MWAA) confirmed that the stolen items were returned to Khamsin.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

  • The MWAA is withholding further details, citing ongoing legal proceedings. However, they noted that evidence photos were retained for future prosecution.
  • Sam Brinton has been charged with felony grand larceny, and the preliminary hearing is postponed until December.

Brinton’s Troubled History

  • Brinton, 35, identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. He was dismissed from the Office of Nuclear Energy at the Department of Energy last December.
  • Brinton has been arrested multiple times for stealing women’s luggage at airports. In past cases, Brinton received lenient sentences, including mental health evaluations and community service.
  • Asya Khamsin took legal action against Brinton after recognizing her stolen custom designs in public photos of him.

  • Khamsin had initially reported the theft to the police and Delta Air Lines but gained traction only after recognizing her designs on Brinton. She has filed a civil lawsuit against him.
