Avenatti represented Julie Swetnick, who claimed she saw Kavanaugh at multiple parties where “gang rapes” occurred. But fact-checkers and news reports severely undermined Swetnick’s credibility.
Moderate Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) called Swetnick’s claims “outlandish” and cited them as one reason she voted to confirm Kavanaugh.
Today, many Democrats are piling on Avenatti for making opposition to Kavanaugh to appear excessively partisan.
