A new New Emerson College poll put together a hypothetical 2024 election match-up between Trump and Biden. Iowa voters were asked about the hypothetic, and probable, 2024 matchup between Trump and Biden, and the findings show that Trump would be leading by 8 points.

47% of likely Iowa favored Trump, while 39% said they would back Biden. 38% of those polled also added that the Mar-A-Lago raid had no impact on their decision, while 34% said it makes them more likely to support Donald Trump. Only 28% of those polled said that the Mar-A-Lago raid decreased their support of Trump.

According to The Hill:

Last month, a nationwide poll from The Wall Street Journal showed Biden leading Trump by 6 points. The president’s approval rating was up at the time, after a series of legislative successes for Democrats. However, Biden’s approval rating dropped 5 points at the end of September, landing at 41 percent, according to a Politico-Morning Consult poll.

The Emerson College poll was conducted on Oct. 2-4 with 959 likely voters and had a margin of error of 3.1 percent.

In the 2020 Presidential Election, Donald Trump won Iowa by a margin of 53.1% to Biden’s 44.9%. Support for Trump has not fallen in Iowa since this election, and it appears that for many voters, January 6th and the FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago are only bolstering support for Donald Trump.

President Biden’s approval rating has been as low as nearly any President in American history. Recently it’s seen a slight uptick due to college loan cancelation and other measures that people may benefit from. However, once the midterms are over and it’s back to business as usual, it’s likely that Biden will go back down in approval rating.

While it’s uncertain if Trump will run for President in 2024, Trump has been hosting rallies and showing that it’s possible, if not likely, that he will run for office in 2024. Many factors are still up in the air, but all signs are showing that Trump has a fighting chance should he decide to run in 2024.
