A federal agency created by then-President Barack Obama and set up by current Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is institutionally racist and has discriminated against black employees since its inception, a federal employees union alleges.
“According to the [Consumer Financial Protection Bureau] union, Black employees last year were paid a median $20,000 less than white employees. Base pay was lower for employees of color even when job type and experience were the same, the union said in a pay study it conducted in the fall,” POLITICO reports.
“The problem has plagued the CFPB since its creation under former President Barack Obama, even as its management ranks have become more diverse than other federal agencies,” POLITICO reports “The National Treasury Employees Union, which represents the agency’s workers, is now pressing (new CFPB head Rohit) Chopra to make fixing the salary disparities a top priority.”
“NTEU is hopeful that the CFPB’s new leadership will work with us to use this opportunity to close the pay gaps for Black, Hispanic and Native American employees,” union president Tony Reardon tells POLITICO.
POLITICO also reports:
A 2016 Government Accountability Office audit found that at least 40 percent of Black employees “disagreed with the statement that success at CFPB is based more on merit than on personal connections or favoritism.”
And last November, the head of the CFPB’s union chapter, Catherine Farman, said the agency has “serious problems with racist policies, and not just with pay.”
“Since 2013, CFPB has proposed firing 17 people: 12 of them were people of color, five were white women, seven were Black,” Farman said at the time. “That means that CFPB has never tried to fire a white man.”
The allegations of baked-in racial discrimination are raising eyebrows as they implicate Warren, who created the agency’s initial hiring and pay policies, and has her own troubled history on racial issues.
“Congress established the powerful new financial regulator — the brainchild of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, then a Harvard Law professor — with the passage of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law in the summer of 2010,” POLITICO reports. “A year later, the agency opened its doors and resembled working at a startup, with little structure to the way new hires were brought on board, according to some of the bureau’s first employees.”
The report is another blow for Warren, who has been dogged by years of false claims she was Native American, which allegedly helped her land a lucrative Harvard teaching position.
Her record on race wasn’t helped by her 2020 presidential campaign, which ended in disaster after her failure to attract support from black voters led her to drop out after a blowout loss in South Carolina’s primary.

If one could sit down and try to identify the true scum-of-the-earth politicians in the United States, one could come up with nothing better than Warren and Obama. It does not seem possible that such moral trash as these two are not now on death row, for their parts in the killing of tens of thousands of American citizens by various and sundry means in the past. While the article may tell some of us what we want to hear about government corruption and incompetence, the use of statistics in small numbers is simply invalid. For example, we had 2 black field service employees in our branch, out of 14 total. One was recruited by a division of IBM and the other was jailed for violence and drug sales. A KKK member might say, “see fifty fifty, the other N.. never got caught.” We don’t need to play the numbers game that the Devil’s children frequently abuse. There is no statistical significance in small numbers.
