There are currently two gerrymandering cases in the Supreme Court, one in Maryland and another in North Carolina. In Maryland, Republicans are arguing the Democratic-dominated state legislature all but erased a GOP seat when the lines were redrawn after the last census. In North Carolina, Democrats are arguing that district boundaries remain drawn with too much a partisan slant that leaves Democrats without proper representation. Depending on the outcome of either case, we may see a massive change to districts across the country and possibly a further shift in each party’s congressional representation.
