On Sunday, presidential candidate John Kasich was on ABC’s “This Week” and he made a jaw dropping policy idea. He suggested sending humanitarian aid to the Saudis.
Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s largest oil producers. It also promotes a radical form of Islam that has spawned both al-Qaeda and ISIS. The kingdom also executes so many people a year that it has a shortage of executioners. The country’s laws are based on a strict form of Islamic Sharia law.
As for the humanitarian aid, the Saudis themselves are still providing a good bit of it. They recently announced initiatives to provide winter clothing for Syrian refugees.
It doesn’t make sense to provide humanitarian aid to a country that doesn’t need it in the first place. It definitely doesn’t make sense if that country also is the spawn of radical Islam.
