While on the Hill, he made a name for himself by becoming chairman of the Republican Study Committee and the House Republican Conference. Additionally, he served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Among those that worked with him in these capacities, Paul Ryan supports him, even considering him a friend. For a candidate who has not been so lucky as to forge as many positive relationships on the Hill, this is very important for Trump and his campaign.
