Pelosi: Trump Impeachment is Coming

Democrats are frothing at the mouth to impeach President Trump, and Nancy Pelosi is telling the hordes their time is coming.

“Trump is goading us to impeach him. That is what he is doing every single day — taunting, taunting, taunting,” Pelosi told a crowd of liberals at Cornell University.

“We cannot accept a second term for Donald Trump if we are going to be faithful to our democracy,” she said.

But Pelosi noted Trump’s impeachment cannot appear to be done only for political reasons, adding the House will continue to “investigate” Trump until they can accuse him of crimes.

Pelosi claims the report compiled by former FBI Director Robert Mueller contains evidence of crimes, even though Mueller says it does not.

“We can’t impeach him for political reasons, and we can’t not impeach him for political reasons. We have to see where the facts take us,” she said.

“We need this information in case we want to exercise other options,” Pelosi said.

“That might take us to a place, but we have to have more — I believe we have to have more information,” she said.

Trump is having none of it.

“How do you impeach a Republican President for a crime that was committed by the Democrats?” Trump tweeted April 21, referring to the fact it was the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee who enlisted the help of Russian agents to compile information on Trump, which turned out to be fabricated.

While the liberal activist base is howling like animals for Trump’s impeachment, Americans are not as enthused.

A CNN poll released March 20 finds only 36 percent of Americans support Trump’s impeachment.

That’s a seven-point drop from the 43 percent who supported impeachment in December. CNN notes the drop in support for impeachment is driven by withering Democrat support for it.

In December 80 percent of Democrats wanted Trump impeached. That number had fallen to 68 percent in March, relegating support for impeachment to more radical and virulent regions of the Democrat base.

While support for impeachment is plunging among Americans, Pelosi and Democrats may use impeachment to drive up Democrat turnout -- ignoring the fact it turns off Americans in order to radicalize their own base.

It’s a strategy they used in 2018 to capture control of the House and win several Senate races in red states. By falsely accusing Trump of crimes and vowing to remove him from the office, the number of radicalized extremists turning out to vote may have outnumbered middle-of-the-road Americans who didn’t like the message, but don’t vote as often.
