As Roy Moore's interview with Sean Hannity begun, the campaign issued a forceful denial aimed squarely at The Washington Post:

On air, Hannity asked for more details. Moore insisted he never met Leigh Corfman, who said he molested her at the age of 14. Moore acknowledged he knew two of the other accusers, Debbie Gibson and Gloria Deason.

When Sean inquired if Moore ever dated teenagers as an adult man in his 30s, the Senate hopeful hedged (a full transcript of the interview is available here):

In the interview, Moore did not deny the possibility he dated women who were younger than 18 when he was in his 30s, but pointed out that most of the women in their accounts to the newspaper do not claim inappropriate sexual behavior…

When asked if he remembered dating any woman who was in her late teens while he was a 30-something, Moore said, “not generally, no” and that it would be “out of my customary behavior.”

“I don’t remember that, and I don’t remember ever dating any girl without the permission of her mother,” he added.

Moore said "We have some evidence of collusion here," possibly a reference to the revelation that one of the accusers, Gibson, was a sign language interpreter for Democratic candidates, including Doug Jones and Hillary Clinton. The Washington Post didn't reveal that.

In full disclosure, there are 14 people in the entire State of Alabama (population 4.863 million) recognized as qualified American Sign Language interpreters. Given the rarity of this expertise, one prominent deaf advocate explained on Twitter that ASL interpreters consider it unethical to turn down events due to differences of opinion.

In the Post's article, Gibson's account of her brief time dating Moore was the least troubling. A 34-year-old Moore allegedly kissed her, then 17, twice. Gibson even told the Post's reporter that "nothing bad happened" and that her mother thought Moore was a catch.

Leigh Corfman – who was 14 at the time of her alleged sexual abuse at Moore's hands – is a Republican who voted for Donald Trump.

Court records corroborate that Corfman was in court with her mother the day she says to have to meet Moore, then an Assistant District Attorney.

In regards to Corfman's allegations, Moore says:

"It never happened, and I don’t even like hearing it because it never happened, and they’re doing this a month away, four weeks, after 40 years in public service. I’ve run five statewide campaigns … this has never been brought up, it’s never been even mentioned, and all of a sudden four weeks out, they’re bringing it up.” He called the allegations “a direct attack on this campaign … I would have never had any contact [with the 14-year-old]. … In fact, her allegations contradict the whole behavior pattern that two of the young ladies even witnessed theirself.” Moore continued, “These two young girls said their mothers even encouraged them to be friends with me. And, you know, that’s what they said. I wasn’t privy to their conversations, but obviously, we never had any sexual activity, there was never anything like that."
