When a school's longtime dean pleads guilty to child porn, you imagine the outrage from students and faculty. St. Louis' Washington University responded differently.

We at least expect tantrums when Ann Coulter speaks on campuses. Irrational thoughts and prejudices have become ingrained in colleges and universities. To leftist undergrads, commonly known as snowflakes, conservative views threaten their identity. Intolerant millennials harass anyone who deviates from liberal doctrine.

Make no mistake, the concept of social justice does not move snowflakes to act. Their motivation is power. Case in point the reaction to the fall from grace for Wash U's Dean of Students, Justin X. Carroll.

A federal investigation tracking people sharing child pornography online nabbed Dean Carroll by tracing IP addresses back to his computers. Law enforcement found Carroll, referred to in the indictment by his online alias "MOperv," in possession of photographs and videos featuring prepubescent boys.

After his initial arrest, the father of four resigned from Washington University. In a letter to administration officials, he cited personal reasons. The University issued a press release asking the press to direct all inquiries to the United States Attorney's Office. The final sentence repeated the phone number for reporting suspected violations of the law and campus regulations.

The student body seemed equally subdued. When an indictment came down, the campus Sexual Assault Rape Anonymous Helpline (S.A.R.A.H.) posted on Facebook that they were available to provide support in these challenging times. Similar groups have united with S.A.R.A.H. to assist students coping.

What about the real victims? If snowflakes believed in social justice, they would have brought the full weight of university to bear on the predatory cabals that kidnap and abuse children. Rallies against predators, like Dean Carroll, would dwarf the riots protesting conservative speakers who have the audacity to share their opinions.

We know that did not happen. The students remain self-absorbed while the staff marvels at how quickly everyone recovers – except the children forever traumatized.
