CNN pundit, Angela Rye, isn’t satisfied with just re moving Confederate memorials: she wants to see statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson coming down too.

Rye, who is black, explained that, "American history is not all glorious... George Washington was a slave owner. We need to call slave owners out for what they are. Whether we think they were protecting American freedom or not, he wasn't protecting my freedoms.”

"This country was built on a very violent past that resulted in the death and the raping and the killing of my ancestors,” Rye added. “I’m not going to allow us to say it's okay for Robert E. Lee, but not a George Washington. We need to call it what it is.”

"To me, I don't care if it's a George Washington statue or Thomas Jefferson, they all need to come down," Rye concluded.

After violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, two weeks ago, a number of cities have torn down their Confederate memorials. In Baltimore, city officials even went a step further: removing the statue of former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice, Roger Taney, who remained loyal to the Union but was criticized for his racist Supreme Court decision in the Dred Scott case.

President Trump has lambasted efforts to remove Confederate statues, saying that liberals were intent on “changing history” in the name of political correctness.

"So, this week it's Robert E. Lee," Trump said, in a press conference last week. "I notice that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder is it George Washington next week, and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you really do have to ask yourself, where does it stop?"

If liberals take a similar view to Angela Rye, it’s clear: Trump’s right.
