Are Your Kids Safe? Cops Seize Drugs Targeting Children

Two suspects in Texas were apparently hoping to find suckers for meth, as authorities seized nearly $1 million worth of the drug in the form of lollipops in the shape of Star Wars characters, butterflies and flowers.

Officers responding to a report of a possible burglary in Spring on Tuesday led to the seizure of nearly 600 pounds of meth pops with an approximate street value close to $1,000,000. And whoever designed the candy apparently intended the lollipops to be distributed among children or sold to youngsters, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Ruben Diaz told the Dallas Morning News the lollipops were formed in shapes of flowers, butterflies and bats. Other photos on the department’s Facebook page included candy shaped like Star Wars characters like Yoda and R2-D2.

Each lollipop was estimated to sell for up to $40 on the street and they were apparently designed with child in mind, Diaz said.
